The 60,000-year-old Neanderthal flute is the oldest musical instrument in the world, carved by Homo neanderthalensis (the Neanderthals).

The Neanderthal Flute was found in the cave of Divje Babe (Witch Cave) in Slovenia, amongst the remnants of a Neanderthal fire pit.

The 60,000 year-old Neanderthal Flute, is carved from the bone (femur) of a cave bear and was discovered in Slovenia in 1995.
